The Badger Clan goes to Southport

Southport Whisky Club is a group of friends and whisky enthusiasts founded in 2016 and has now grown to over 300 members. They travel far and wide, in Scotland mainly to seek out whiskies that they love. The club hosts an annual whisky festival in Southport, a seaside town in Merseyside, England. The Southport Whisky Festival offers whisky tastings, food pairings, and masterclasses led by industry experts. The festival usually takes place in the summer, but there is also a winter festival, held in January.
The great folks at Southport Whisky Club were big fans of our single cask release of “The Rise Of The Badger Clan” from the 1st batch of the Cask Noir. This release came from Dailuaine distillery, was matured in a 1st fill bourbon hogshead for 11 years and bottled at the natural cask strength of 50.9% abv.
Southport Whisky Club got in touch with our Sales and Marketing Director Paul and asked him if he could arrange something special, that was similar to our ‘badger’ release as an exclusive release for their club (the club had previously released several exclusives from distilleries such as Glenfarclas, Loch Lomond and Bimber). Paul and the team at Brave New Spirits couldn’t resist getting involved in this exciting project. It just so happened that in our warehouse there was a very special cask of Dailuaine. The spirit had been maturing in a hogshead for 10 years, but unfortunately, the cask had a leak. What may have been unfortunate for us was a huge opportunity for the folk at Southport Whisky Club since they were looking for something very limited for their club members to enjoy. This whisky ticked all of their boxes! The 10yo Dailuaine from a leaky hogshead yielded just 117 bottles in total. The cask was bottled at a natural strength of 55.3%, without chill-filtration or artificial colouring.
The Badger Clan has safely arrived at the Southport Whisky Club and as the members informed us it’s ‘sett’ to make a big impression. Slàinte!
